Queen Charlotte Track

Lochmara Lodge is located on the world famous Queen Charlotte Track. The 71 km walk stretches along the Queen Charlotte Sounds from Ship Cove to Anakiwa. The track passes through historic sites, secluded bays, over ridges affording incredible views and along bush clad shorelines.  Lochmara sits between the Torea Saddle and Mistletoe Bay. There is a well maintained 3.5km side path down into Lochmara from the track, at the same standard as the Queen Charlotte Track.

The track can be hiked or biked in its entirety or can be accessed for day walks at points along its length. The full length of the track can be walked year-round, and is open to mountain bikers from 1 March – 1 December annually. Over the peak summer months, only the last two sections from Camp Bay to Anakiwa can be cycled.

Queen Charlotte Track

The track is managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) and passes through conservation land and land in private ownership. A Queen Charlotte Track Land Cooperative (QCTLC) Pass is required for all multi-day hikes and mountain bike rides on the track, and may be required for some day walks. For details of whether you will need a pass, please contact us and we'll give you the right advice.
